Ravenna

Before i set off for Florence and Rome, i made a stop in Ravenna to visit the churches and gander at the wonderful Byzantine mosaics in San Vitale Basilica, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and others throughout the town. This last minute journey turned out to be a great addition to my many visits to different spots in Italy....oh the hours i spent studying these mosaics in my art history books....seems like yesterday!

I also stopped into their National Museum, which had a few interesting pieces, although there is not much in my opinion...but it was worth the trip since i found one sculpture i enjoyed.
